Pool safety/code of conduct
General:

  • Please arrive no more than 10-15 minutes before the start of your lesson.
  • Shoes must be removed, or overshoes worn before entering the changing rooms and poolside. Prams are not allowed in changing rooms or on poolside.
  • To keep in line with current child safety guidelines we cannot allow any photos or videos to be taken during lesson.
  • Please shower before and after your lesson.
  • For Hygiene reasons we do not provide changing mats but recommend you bring a travel mat with you.
  • Our venues request a double nappy system is used unless your child is fully toilet trained. A double nappy is a disposable swim nappy or aqua nappy covered by another snug layer such as swim trunks, costume or nappicova.
  • It is essential that we try to avoid any potential leakages which would lead to a cancelled lesson. If you think your child might have soiled during a lesson they should be immediately removed from the pool and changed.
  • Please take your used nappies home with you or use the nappy bins provided.
  • You must take a towel onto the poolside, ready for when you finish the lesson or in case of an emergency evacuation.
  • Please allow sufficient time before the lesson when feeding to avoid any accidents in the pool.
  • Some parents like to bring a drink and snack for your child after the lesson as it can be quite tiring for them. (Please can we ask that you avoid feeding in the changing areas and leave them litter free)
  • Bring warm clothing and a hat for your child to wear after lessons on cold days.
  • If you prefer to wear flip flops to walk from the changing area to poolside please remember to bring them along.

Health:

  • All medical conditions have been disclosed to Infant Aquatics regarding the health of you, your child or those who you have placed your child in care with for the purpose of attending swimming lessons.
  • If you have a medical problem and use any medication i.e an inhaler, please tell your teacher and feel free to keep this near you in lessons.
  • If you or your child has any of the following then please do not bring them to the pool and avoid swimming until it has completely cleared up.

  • Any form of infection e.g. ear, nose, eye, chest, throat, impetigo or any form of infectious disease e.g. chickenpox or measles
  • Following on from sickness or diarrhoea we recommend your child be clear of all symptoms for 48 hours prior to returning to lessons.
  • If your child is receiving any form of medical treatment then please seek the advice of your GP or health visitor before swimming.
  • Swimming is unlikely to worsen any common ailments such as colds and sniffles but sometimes if you or your child feel under the weather you may simply not feel up to it.

Safety:

  • It is extremely important that safety is our priority at Infant Aquatics. The participation of you, your child or those who you have placed your child in care with for the purpose of attending or watching swimming lessons is done so entirely at your own risk.
  • Familiarise yourself with the pool health, safety and emergency procedures and instructions throughout the building.
  • Please be aware of the deep end of the pool and be careful when floors are wet as they may be slippery.
  • If waiting on poolside, please wait quietly. If you are noisy you will be asked to be quiet, failure to do this means you will be asked to leave the poolside. It is imperative that noise is kept to a minimum so that those in the pool can hear the teacher. The same applies if observing any lessons.
  • Infant Aquatics will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury whilst on the pool premises
  • Any personal belongings are left at the owner’s risk. We do not provide a lost property service.
  • You must only enter and exit the pool when invited to do so by your teacher unless you are a member of the venue.
  • In the event of an emergency all swimmers and spectators will immediately stop what they are doing and wait for further instructions.
  • Should it be necessary to evacuate the building no attempt should be made to recover possessions from the changing rooms or anywhere else within the building. You should already have your towel on poolside which should be taken with you to keep your child warm. A member of staff will take charge once the swimmers have left the water.
  • Safety is our first concern and we reserve the right to remove anybody from the pool, should we feel that safety is in anyway compromised.
  • Lessons are for half an hour every week with one adult per child in the water, that adult is exclusively responsible for the safety of the child both in the pool, changing rooms and the surrounding areas.
  • You will remain responsible for your child at all times whilst on the premises and throughout each lesson. Children must not run or act inappropriately within any part of the premises. We will not be responsible for any injury or accident caused as a result of children and/ or parents failing to abide by these rules and supervise their children at all times, in all parts of the building.
  • Infant Aquatics take no responsibility for the applications of practice outside the Infant Aquatics lessons now and in the future.
  • Any such practice is done so at your sole discretion and risk.
